Unlimited Win Hat-trick of Neptunes at World Superyacht Awards
Design Unlimited, the leading superyacht interior design and exterior styling studio, is celebrating the success of two of its latest projects at last weekend’s World Superyacht Awards, held in Amsterdam. Together they received a total of three ‘Neptunes’.
The 33-metre performance sailing yacht WinWin won the highly prestigious overall Sailing Superyacht of the Year award as well as that for the sailing yacht 30 to 50 metre category. The awards were made based on her balance of performance, style and comfort. WinWin had previously won the interior design award (sailing yacht 30-40 metres) at the Showboats Design Awards in the USA earlier in 2015. DU created an interior that would perform well in both cruising and racing situations.
The layout is functional and modern, and uses the space available in the most efficient way possible. Distinctive features include retracting glass windows between the deck saloon and cockpit that create a single expanse of living space at the touch of a button, and owner’s accommodation which includes a full width stateroom forward linked to a study / saloon stretching aft along the port side. The décor combines soft tones and natural finishes to deliver a clean, elegant look.
DU also celebrated the success of the classic 65m motoryacht Shemara, which was awarded a special prize in the rebuild category. Relaunched in May 2014 after a three-year refit, Mark Tucker and his team spent over 6,000 hours on the detailed redesign of both the interior and exterior styling and the full interior layout.
The exterior work included detailed designs for almost all the features and equipment; ranging from the funnels and the plunge pool down to the stanchions and biminis.
“We’re delighted that these two exceptional projects received the recognition that they deserve,” said Design Unlimited’s Mark Tucker. “We were fortunate enough to work with experienced owners who had clear visions for their yachts and the will to create something that would be truly distinctive. While very different from each other, we are certain that the boats will give a great deal of pleasure for years to come.”
