Venetian House

Venetian House resides on South Venetian Way, in Florida’s sunny Miami Beach.

Built by Sabal Development with architecture by Togu Design, the Design Unlimited studio were tasked with bringing this luxury waterfront property to life with their interior design.

The client’s brief for this palatial pad, which spans 7,411sq.ft, was for a Miami beach house vibe – effortlessly cool, and inspired by Miami’s most luxurious hotels, though with more natural influences.

To fulfil this vision, the Design Unlimited team started with the icons of Miami design as an inspiration point – venues like the 1 Hotel – South beach – and explored how to create a luxury look that united natural finishes with modern finesse.

Arriving at the prestigious address, you are greeted by a modern façade in light coral stone, and you enter into a large, open-plan living, dining and kitchen space. The client likes to socialise and entertain, and shared the studio’s feeling that the kitchen lies at the heart of family living and good times with friends. Enormous circular sofas naturally draw people together, and although it’s open plan the lounge, dining, and kitchen spaces remain distinct due to the selection of different materials and contrasting textures.

The largely neutral palette of calm and beachy tones is accented by metallics, oceanic tones of blue and pops of bright orange. There’s a wine cellar with feature wall in blue marble, and textured marble tiles in the bathrooms that bring in golden tones.

Through the floor-to-ceiling glass doors, leading from the lounge area to the garden, there are views across to Downtown Miami, Hibiscus Island and South Beach. The exterior spaces have been optimised to provide an indulgent outdoor lifestyle. The rear garden on the ground floor is laid with decking and has a dining table with adjacent BBQ grill, ‘Bali bed’ double loungers, and steps down to a 15-metre-long infinity pool that stretches across the back of the property. A boat dock completes the arrangement.

Ascending the stairs to the first floor, which intersect their way around a statement light fitting that extends from the highest ceiling point almost to the ground floor, you reach the master suite. This sizeable bedroom has his-and-hers walk-in wardrobes, glass doors that lead to a balcony, an enormous ensuite with statement bath tub, monsoon shower, his-and-hers sinks, and even a balcony off the bathroom that also has two showers.

There are three guest bedrooms on this floor, all ensuite, and all enjoying a balcony with lounge seating. There’s also a morning lounge with its own bar counter and TV on this floor, and a second laundry. An inner courtyard extends the length of the building and allows for easier access around the home.

The roof of the residence extends the outdoor amenities with shaded lounge space, an al fresco dining table with outdoor kitchen, sun loungers, and an infinity-edged pool facing the Biscayne Bay.

The result is a bold and playful home that is unique, chic, and stylish. It has personality in abundance and redefines modern Miami living.
