Emerald

Emerald is a 50.4m Feadship that underwent a 16-month refit at Balk Shipyard in the Netherlands.

The owners of Emerald were first introduced to the work of Design Unlimited when they chartered a similar yacht that had been refit with an interior designed by our studio.  Following an introduction from brokers TWW, Design Unlimited set about realising the clients’ wishes for a neutral, relaxing interior that had a modern aesthetic but would remain timeless.

As well as a new interior design, the yacht’s main and upper decks were reconfigured to make way for an additional VIP cabin and a servery.  Additional access steps were added to the stern, the transom was extended to increase cockpit space on the main deck, the size of the upper deck saloon was increased, the sun deck was extended to aft and equipped with a hot tub, and a full hull repaint in emerald green completed the transformation.

Emerald now sports a clean and fresh style that’s suitably contemporary for this modern classic.  The smart and sophisticated look utilises dark timbers and cool grey tones, with varying textures providing layers or details.  The result is an interior that invites touch; it’s comfortable and chic, but with these little bursts of colour and pattern that really bring out the yacht’s personality.

With 467GT of interior volume and six cabins comprising an owner’s suite, VIP, two doubles and two twins, Emerald can accommodate up to 14 guests.  There are five cabins for a crew of 12, as well as a Captain’s suite on the bridge deck.

Design Unlimited’s varied experience with other superyacht refits, particularly for owners who sought to heighten a yacht’s charter appeal, meant the studio was able to confidently embark on this project and assure the owners we had the specific expertise to make the refit a success.

The studio worked closely with the owners to implement their exacting vision, and their input was integral to the success of this design.
