Balance 750

The Balance 750 Catamaran is nearing the final stages of construction at Balance Catamarans in Cape Town.

Set for sail in summer 2024, this is a lightweight catamaran designed to pair high performance sailing with luxurious cruising. The commissioning clients requested a relaxed and calm interior, with generally neutral tones.

The interior style devised by the Design Unlimited studio is a minimalistic one, with a focus on practicality and functionality. The team worked closely with the owners, who are keen sailors and adventurers, to implement their specific requirements. Expecting to spend longer periods onboard, versatility of space was an important consideration.

The layout comprises a master suite to aft in the port hull and a guest cabin forward, a VIP guest double to aft in the starboard hull, and a further guest cabin or crew accommodation forward.

On the main deck, the spacious saloon is open plan to the galley and finished with durable materials and fabrics that both look the part and will last. The same cushions feature in the interior and exterior spaces, helping to unite all areas of the boat in one seamless fashion.

Light timbers and a largely neutral colour palette is contrasted by dark timber flooring and gloss carbon features. These subtle contrasts are apparent in the selection of components and finishes as well, with black taps and detailing featuring in both the ensuites and the galley.

Notable aspects of this 75-footer’s design include a space-saving gym setup, an alfresco dining space in the aft cockpit with barbecue grill, and bench seating in the forward cockpit.

The studio’s extensive experience in selecting weight saving materials that still provide the luxurious level of comfort desired, was key to the success of this project.
